Hubby and I had discussed getting spayed or neutered since we got married. He wanted to wait even though I was absolutely sure that I did not want to ever be pregnant, he told me that he knew there's a time when women blah blah tick tack tick tack wha wha wha. So sweet of him, but no thanks. so anyway. We went through the procedure on Nov last year, after meeting with the urologist the first time. Doc was pretty cool, and as a bonus he agreed 100% with our reasons. A month later the day came....I went with him, and while we were on the waiting room other four men went in and came out with an ice pack on their crotches. I must admit it was hilarious and sad at the same time, the men by themselves with no one to be there holding their hand! All of them but one had the wifey there, and the wifey had a baby in a bassinet.
Needless to say I was VERY excited cause I would stop taking the pill soon. And throw away the condoms. When we got into the room, the nurse kept on joking about "things" and that lightened the air a bit. She was a lot of fun with an "evil laughter"! Well I sat there through the whole thing and hubby never loosened the grip of my hand! I got to see a little bit though other people's blood grosses me out. Doc was very nice and we were making a lot of ballsack jokes at hubby's expense. He laughed at them too, what a good sport he is.
Hubby wore sweatpants and his home slip on shoes, while the other men were wearing the usual fitted blue jeans and belts, and lace up shoes, who we were laughing at cause imagine the uncomfyness trying to zip up your pants and lace up your shoes after your ballsack has been cut open! Then we stopped at the grocery store to get a bag of frozen peas. Since then I will never look at them frozen peas the same way. Till this day he jokes with me and tells me to cook them farted on peas.
It was funny though, when I turned in the sample to be counted, I was in the hospital looking for the lab running around with a sperm sample in my hand......for about 30 minutes until I found it....then the lab lady asked me (to my and her amusement) when the sample was taken....and I just busted up laughing and said "I have no idea....I wasn't there!" Everyone who heard me laughed out loud, and I was weeping!
So, how was YOUR experience?

Re: How was YOUR vasectomy experience?
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 10:28 PMThe operation was fine. The nurse and I had some acquaintances in common even. The recovery sucked. It took months. Most people don't have that though and I don't regret it at all. It's nice to be able to squirt that stuff around and not worry about it making any crying, shitting, wrinkled, little, subhuman eating machines. If it grows back I'll do it again.

Re: How was YOUR vasectomy experience?
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 7:50 AMI was 20 years old, and had recently had some pretty serious injuries to my legs, so the whole surgery thing was nothing unusual to me. This was thirty-one years ago, so I don't know how much things have changed. The worst pain was getting the novocaine shots to numb the area. After that, I could feel what was going on, but it didn't hurt too bad. After sitting around for about 15 minutes, I got up and walked out. Yeah, the area was sore, for about a week. Everytime I coughed or sneezed, I thought I was going to lose something important. Overall, not bad. I was told not to "use" it for 21 days, then "perform" 20 times before bringing in the sample for testing. I went to work the next day, and have never had a problem since. Vasectomy is the only way to go. I love the idea of not having to worry about birth control at all. And all the other methods suck anyway. Why put a woman through the side effects that come with all the other methods? And condoms? I don't think so. I've used them a few times, just to see what it's like. Uhhhh, no thanks. For my vasectomy experience, I give it a 10!

Re: How was YOUR vasectomy experience?
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 8:53 PMMy experience was excellent. The nurse (male) and Dr. (male) were very good at keeping me distracted. It only took 15 minutes. I relaxed and watched TV all weekend. No complications and I was "clean" after 2 months. Would do it again if I had to and my peas are long gone.....It felt so good to get it over with after thinking about it for years. -

My husband..
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 4:40 AMwas fixed a year ago. I had been on the pill for too many years.. He says it was not fun - but he did okay. He had to rest afterwards but - everything returned to normal. He is doing super good now and I am very glad to be 'drug' - free. :)
(A friend of mine - that had one after his second baby - ended up having problems b/c he didn't rest and he picked up his fat baby too early after the surgery. so the one warning I would give is.. guys.. make sure you rest properly.
I don't know how people with kids are surviving now. I have friends (vegetarians) with three kids and they live in the middle of nowhere & the Mom doesn't work and HOW are they staying fed>>?? When I hear about the economy and global warming. I am glad I am child - free!! -

Re: My husband..
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 3:56 PMI think about half of the kids in this country are paid for by us non-breeders, I don't know how the other parents can afford it.
